Oxford Dictionary defines ministry as, “the spiritual work or service of a Christian or a group of Christians, especially evangelism.”

There’s a phrase that we like to throw around here; it is, “Life is ministry, and ministry is life.” It’s becoming more than something that we say, but something I believe. It means that ministry is more than just the allotted time that we go out to volunteer and serve the long-term missionaries here. It is believing that God can use every part of our lives for his Glory.

Ministry the early mornings when I wake up to spend time with God so I can be filled before the day. Ministry is the daily, hour-long team-times where we check-in on each other, worship together, give feedback to one another, or simply enjoy one another’s presences. Ministry is the Muslim guy who works at the convenience store who we visit every day. Ministry is all the drives our host takes, where he spends every moment praying and singing His heart’s song. Ministry is the coffee Auntie Carla makes us every morning. Truly, ministry is every second of every day.

Life is ministry and ministry is life.

A glimpse into my everyday life (ministry’s version):

We finally have consistent ministry! From hopping on a red taxi-truck in Thailand with us knowing NO details (e.g. where we were going, what we were doing, how long we we would be there, how long the drive was) to knowing ALL the details (WOOT WOOT!!). These past few weeks, my team and I have been volunteering at this after-school program for middle and high school students called Beats and Books. The mission is to help the students intellectually, musically, and, most importantly, spiritually.

In the morning, we help in the library and attend to all the preparations that need to be done before the students arrive. The program is 15:00 to 17:00 (AKA 3 to 5 pm). The first hour is reserved for spiritual development; we are currently reading and discussing a book on the spiritual disciplines. The last hour is reserved for homework or music, although sometimes, we just work on building relationships and play football or volleyball.

My favorite part of all last week is walking to the beach with my book group to practice meditation. It was horribly spontaneous, but God is good and He spoke to us.

I’M FULLY FUNDED AHAHA!!

If I am being honest and heart-wrenchingly vulnerable, fundraising had thoroughly burdened me, yet in this past week, God put it on someone’s heart to donate the remaining $3000 that I needed. … I don’t have words to describe that kind of grace from God … Thank you all who have prayed and donated and followed along on this journey.

I love you all and miss you terribly!
